Isolator

Isolate amplifier noise from the readout resonator. Simpler alternative to circulator in some readout chain configurations.

What it does

2-port non-reciprocal device. Passes signals in one direction with low loss and attenuates reverse-travelling signals. Used interchangeably with a circulator+load in cryogenic readout chains. Simpler packaging than a circulator but slightly less flexible.
