Purcell Filter
Suppress Purcell decay rate while maintaining strong readout coupling. Improves T1 in fast-readout architectures.
What it does
Specialised filter placed between the qubit readout resonator and the output transmission line. Suppresses Purcell decay — the enhanced spontaneous emission rate of the qubit due to coupling to the readout resonator mode. Allows stronger readout coupling without proportionally increasing qubit decay.
Where it goes
- Allowed stages
- MXC
- Preferred stages
- MXC
- Typical line types
- readoutOut
- Catalog-only entry in V1. Often integrated at the sample package level rather than as a large standalone can.
Typical specifications

| Bandwidth | Narrow (design-specific) |
| Form factor | package-level cavity / block |
Ports
- From resonatorinreadoutOut50 Ω

Physical envelope
34.0 × 10.0 × 12.0 mm
Representative package-level Purcell filter block. This replaces the earlier decorative resonator-can placeholder with a more believable compact cavity/block form factor.
